NEW ORLEANS PUBLIC SERVICE INC.

CARS ASSIGNED IN VARIOUS STATIONS

1934

The data for these rosters are taken from a 1934 NOPSI document titled “Cars in Various Sta. 1934” in the Louis Hennick collection housed at the Historic New Orleans Collection.  The information is organized by car barn (“station”), and gives us a glimpse of car assignments just a few months before Poland Station and Carrollton Station were closed (November 25, 1934 and December 28, 1934, respectively).  Poland Station's closing was permanent, but Carrollton was reopened March 1, 1943, and continues in active service today.

This roster includes no single truck (ST) passenger cars.  While some ST cars remained on the property, none were in use for passenger service.  Louis Hennick reports that all out-of-service ST cars were stored at the old Orleans RR “Cream Cheese” barn and yard at Gentilly Blvd., Laharpe St., and Grand Route St. John.
