Picture 333.
Car 908 traverses the loop at the foot of Canal Street in the later afternoon
of Friday, Jan. 31, 1964. The weather is typical of New Orleans: there has been a recent
shower. The car is showing a “Car House” destination in the window nearest the
photographer, so the crew is looking forward to the end of their work day.
Note the extreme angle of the trailing trolley pole as the car rounds the tight
curve. Several other cars can be glimpsed at the right on the outbound
tracks. The two tracks in the foreground are standard gauge railroad
tracks. — Bill Armstrong
